OKEx, the latest crypto-exchange coming to Malta
Malta is once again welcoming a leading crypto-exchange to the island; the Hong Kong based company, OKEx Technology announced that the favourable mentality of the Maltese government concerning blockchain is the perfect fit for the expansion of their company. The Independent reports that through OKEx’s partnership and participation in the upcoming Delta Summit, due to launch in October of 2018, is one of the numerous reasons the blockchain giant has chosen Malta as an additional base of operation and expansion.
Head of operations of OKEx, Andy Cheung, says that Malta, given the country’s comprehensive blockchain initiatives, is an ideal place for OKEx laying down their foundation for further growth.
The Independent also quoted Silvio Schembri’s anticipation of OKEx’s move to Mediterranean waters. The Parliamentary Secretary for Financial Services, Digital Economy and Innovation commented “The fact that Malta is at the forefront in launching a regulatory framework that regulates this sector by means of setting up an authority, in itself has attracted the interest of global companies such as Binance and OKEx” . The Parliamentary Secretary’s insight on the connection between Malta’s upcoming and revolutionary legislation marks the avalanche effect of Binance’s move to Malta and the subsequent message it sends to other blockchain companies the Malta is the place to be for crypt-currency and financial tech.
